Jean Rogers stands for Equity President

After 18 years on the Equity Council , 8 years of which she has been Vice President, Jean is standing for Equity President in the summer elections.

Jean is being fielded by the Representative Group,with whom she has helped set up an Equity pension scheme, a new IT system, the British Equity Collecting Society, as well as the models and young members committees.

During her 18 years with Equity, Jean has campaigned for better credits for actors working in television and for gender equality, as well as better intellectual property rights. And has recently voted to create a working party to look at issues relating to low-paid and unpaid work.

Jean says “That issue, adequate arts funding, the right for our members to share in the success of their work and embracing new technology are the priorities in my opinion. With my work background as a founder member of the National Theatre and 11 years as a soap regular, I believe my particular experience and vision will best serve members’ interests in these very particular times.

Debbie Kurup appearing in The Bodyguard

Debbie will be playing Nicky in The Bodyguard based on the smash hit film which starred Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

This new musical will premiere in London’s West End this autumn with Heather Headley and Lloyd Owen.

Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge – what they don’t expect is to fall in love.

A romantic thriller, THE BODYGUARD features a whole host of Whitney Houston’s greatest hits, including Queen of the Night, So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, I’m Your Baby Tonight, Run to You, I Have Nothing, How Will I Know, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and one of the greatest hit songs of all time - I Will Always Love You.

Previews begin on 6 November 2012 at the Adelphi Theatre.

A Song & A Sip comes to London

Site Launch for Wendy Bain

We are pleased to launch Wendy’s official website at http://www.wendybain.com.

Wendy is originally from the Gwent Valley in Wales.  She now lives in London, having spent twelve years living in America.  She received her actors training at The American Conservatory San Francisco where she studied for three years.  She worked in the theatres around the San Francisco bay area being cast in anything British – Carol Churchill’s Fen, Mike Leigh’s Abigail’s Party and Goose pimples, David Hare’s Secret Rapture, Midsummer Night’s Dream and Much Ado About Nothing with San Francisco Shakespeare Co. She was a regular performing member of the comedy improvisation group, Bay Area Theater Sports, and played comedy roles in short and feature length independent films.

When Wendy moved to New York she studied at HB studios in the Greenwich Village with Uta Hagen, and studied screenwriting at New York University. She did several off-off-Broadway plays and performed stand-up around Manhattan and was in several independent films and the long running daytime soap, As The World Turns.

Since returning to London her recent credits are BBC 1’s The Old Guys and Bafta Award winning series Peep Show and several independent films and commercials.

Revamped site for Mark Evans
