After 18 years on the Equity Council , 8 years of which she has been Vice President, Jean is standing for Equity President in the summer elections.
Jean is being fielded by the Representative Group, with whom she has helped set up an Equity pension scheme, a new IT system, the British Equity Collecting Society, as well as the models and young members committees.
During her 18 years with Equity, Jean has campaigned for better credits for actors working in television and for gender equality, as well as better intellectual property rights. And has recently voted to create a working party to look at issues relating to low-paid and unpaid work.
Jean says “That issue, adequate arts funding, the right for our members to share in the success of their work and embracing new technology are the priorities in my opinion. With my work background as a founder member of the National Theatre and 11 years as a soap regular, I believe my particular experience and vision will best serve members’ interests in these very particular times.
